JOB SUMMARY: The Oncology Data Management Consultant is responsible for managing and/or providing all data management services as it relates to the client Cancer Registry Program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: · Maintain all Service Level Agreements outlined in the Management agreement. · Participate in all Cancer Registry activities for the organization including abstracting, case-finding, follow-up, and cancer conferences, data submission and reporting · Complete weekly and/or monthly productivity to Team Leader. · Participate in quarterly QI Reviews either onsite or online. · Participate in monthly conference calls and meetings, which may include presenting education topics and trends in Oncology. · Develop and maintain working relationships with medical staff and upper level management. · Interface with various departments to ensure that cancer-related information is available for the Cancer Registry. · Monitor conference frequency, format and attendance, and provide information to the Cancer Committee on compliance with the Commission on Cancer guidelines, if requested. · Submit data as required to the State Central Registry and National Cancer Data Base, if requested. · Maintain certification and NCRA membership, as well as appropriate state association memberships
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: · Attend educational conferences as requested. · Other duties as requested. supervisory responsibilities: None.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: · Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) and active membership in the national and/or local cancer registrar association. · Minimum of 1 to 5 years varied experience in Cancer Registry. · Knowledge of the Commission on Cancer Program Standards 2004 and extensive experience with Revised FORDS, Collaborative Staging, AJCC Staging; knowledge of the North American Association of Central Cancer Registries Standards; knowledge of specific State-reporting requirements. · Experience with ACoS Survey under current standards is a plus. · Proficient with IMPAC MRS Cancer Registry Software System and the databases utilized at the facility. (i.e. WebCis, Co-Path, Imnet, etc.) · Hands-on abstracting experience with 1.00 case per hour productivity and 97% accuracy rate. · Ability to communicate effectively in a variety of settings including with colleagues, medical staff and other departments within the facility. · Knowledge of MS Office including Word and Excel. · Ability to use various e-mail and Internet applications. · College degree or degree in allied health field preferred; course in Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology required.

Responsibilities include: collection, coding, and reporting of cancer case information which includes demographics, cancer identifying elements, definitive treatments, extent of disease, and patients' disease status all obtained from a variety of source documents for state reporting, National Cancer Database requirements, and accreditation with the American College of Surgeons. Accountable for timeliness, accuracy, and complete data collection and for ensuring Cancer Conferences are facilitated in compliance with Commission on Cancer Standards.
